The earthquake has had a staggering impact on the population, with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reporting that an estimated 748,000 individuals have been affected across Regions VII (Central Visayas) and VIII (Eastern Visayas). This figure includes not only those who lost their homes but also residents in communities where access to basic necessities and essential services has been severed.
In Bogo City, the city closest to the epicenter, residents described scenes of panic as buildings swayed violently and walls crumbled. "It was unlike anything we've ever felt," said a local vendor, her voice trembling. "The ground rolled like the sea, and then we just heard the terrible sound of concrete and glass shattering." Evacuation centers are rapidly reaching capacity as families, fearing aftershocks, refuse to return to their damaged homes.

In the wake of the powerful earthquake in Cebu City, the ASIP Team mobilized immediately, providing comprehensive humanitarian assistance and coordinating closely with local government officials to support affected communities.

It is with profound sadness that we share news of a devastating tragedy that has struck the family of one of our ASIP members from Cebu. In the wake of the recent typhoon that battered the province, a catastrophic landslide claimed the lives of the entire family of our member's brother-in-law. Words cannot capture the magnitude of this loss, as they were buried by soil in this heartbreaking act of nature.
In these moments of unimaginable grief, the ASIP community has rallied together to embody our core value of solidarity. We are honored to have been able to provide immediate financial assistance to the wife of our member, our direct ASIP family, as she navigates this profound and painful time. This support is a small gesture of our collective care, intended to help alleviate some of the immediate burdens so that she and her husband can focus on healing and honoring the memory of their loved ones. Our thoughts and deepest condolences remain with them.
